Welcome to the main shopping center of ancient Sardis of Byzantine period during which the Christianity was prospering. One of the shops has a large cross in it. 
Above you see remnants of the ancient Gymnasium wall in which ancient Sardians exercised and trained their bodies which was no help for their belief.  
Part of the ancient Roman road on the sidewalks the men of Sardis played knuckle-bone. One of their invention and a good reason for their degeneration. 
Above restored sidewalls of the ancient gymnasium which was adjacent to the ancient synagogue is seen. After Constantine the Great signed Milan Edict in 313 all above buildings were used by the early Christians of Sardis.
